RECENT REPAIRS

Piano Bench Repair

This piano bench came to me with two legs completely broken off. I reglued the front apron and cleaned up/glued a new section onto a broken side apron. Filled loose screw holes and reassembled everything. Touched up the finish and it was ready to go back to the customer same day! Only $84 for this repair.

Oak dining table

In this refinish job the goal was to match the table to the chair provided. Found a colour-matching stain and did some tests and then stripped the old finish off (mostly with scrapers, but also with some eco stripping gel). Stained with Sansin Special Walnut waterborne stain and then finished with Osmo Smart Oil LED UV curing hardwax oil. I was very pleased with the results, and it matches as well as one could hope considering the chair is a different species (2 actually) of wood. $760.00 for refinish + pickup and delivery.

Natural finish rattan chair

This piece had a hole in the seat and lots of wear and gouges in the wood. I dissassembled the chair, removed the caning, card-scraped the finished off, lightly sanded and stained all the pieces and applied a UV curing finish. Glued reed into place on pre-woven and trimmed caning. Reassembled chair, and it is ready to go. Caning repair $50, refinish $100.

Painted oak dining chair

This piece was rattled in shipping and the decorated semi-circle top broke off. I drilled and cut dowels after preparing glue surfaces, and then made a cedar clamping caul to apply pressure at the correct angle. Glue, clamps, joint colour touch-up, stress test and it was back out the door the next day. Repair cost $30.

Small oval mahogany coffee table

This piece with pedestal base had a broken leg. One of the dowels had snapped and someone else attempted a repair that had failed. I removed all legs, repaired wood, created custom dowel and reglued legs. Touched up finish in a few bare spots, and stress tested the base before returning to customer. Repair cost $50.

Oak rocking chair

The client had partially stripped this piece when I began work on it. Most joints were loose, one spindle had snapped and seat split in two. I disassembled entire chair, and then glued seat back together with wood biscuits. Next I repaired the spindle with a dowel and reassembled the rest of the chair with glue and new wedges. I forgot to take a final photo before returning to customer. Repair cost $50.
